Sure what else would you be eating on St. Patrick’s Day? This is traditional, home made comfort food at its best. Many Irish homes across the world still enjoy this nourishing meal. St. Patrick’s day can be referred to by many other names such as St. Patty’s day which causes much confusion to us in Ireland. The Gaelic form of the name Patrick is Pádraig, so while we in Ireland shorten the name to Paddy’s day, in the US it is referred to as St. Patty’s Day. This recipe will give all people of Irish descent and all those who are Ireland devotees a “taste of home”, bacon and cabbage. And not just outside Ireland, it is still one of the most popular meals served in Irish hotel carveries all over the nation of Ireland.

Bacon and cabbage is a dish traditionally associated with Ireland. The dish consists of sliced back bacon boiled with cabbage and served with fluffy new season Irish potatoes. We love to use smoked bacon in our recipe. The dish consists of bacon slices served alongside cabbage boiled in the bacon juices.
