The perfect finish? Essential Winter Cookery Course Day Five

Blink and it’s over. It’s hard to believe that we’ve come to the end of our culinary journey with our Essential students. They’ve been such a fun bunch!

Today Chef Jack worked his way through a whole variety of recipes with the students, from pavlova and risotto, to a delicious Wild Mushroom and Beef Stew.


Have you ever ordered a risotto and found that it’s either underdone or swimming in sauce? We know that feeling.

Guiding them through how to make a risotto that’s oozing with flavour, Chef Jack shared with them the simple techniques that would make their dishes stand out.

With a little TLC, the rice went from being plain to divine, and smacking their lips, they eagerly tucked in.

After lunch it was time to showcase our final showstopper. Now, Jack puts a lot of love into all of his dishes but when it comes to meat, he always makes it extra special.

Pulling together rich and hearty flavours, he created a rather special stew that not only looked gorgeous but tasted fantastic too.

What a delightful bunch to work with. Not only did they pick things up with such enthusiasm but they were also exceptionally clean students.
