Cooks Academy was completely abuzz today with the Easy Food Home-Cook Hero Awards 2015!
Why? Well the much-anticipated cook-off final was on in our beloved cookery school and with 24 finalists in the running for titles – excitement was in the air.
The finalists have come from all over the country to Dublin for the cook-off today and the award ceremony in the Shelbourne Hotel.
Each contestant will have to present their dishes in front of three judges, Masterchef Ireland’s Nick Munier, Chef Catherine Fulvio from Ballyknocken Cookery School, and Gina Miltiadou, Publisher of Easy Food Magazine. They will choose the winner from the three finalists of each category.
The national cookery competition is run annually by Ireland’s number one food magazine, Easy Food, where home cooks don their aprons and enter their favourite recipes into eight sponsored categories.
We’re stoked that once again we’re able to host these awards in our state-of-the-art kitchens here in Cooks Academy.
The entire event today is being filmed for a special programme that’s being aired on TV3 next week so you can imagine how busy it is in here between contestants, staff and the TV crew!
Not only do all the eight winners become Home-Cook Heroes, there are also €8,000 worth of prizes to be awarded including a great Kenwood K-Mix hand mixer and a weekend break in Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa in Meath.
With categories such as Best Burger (Sponsored by Mr.Crumb), Easy Cheesy (sponsored by Dubliner Irish Cheese) and Butter me Up! (Sponsored by Connacht Gold), the smells coming from the kitchen were astonishingly good – there was one contestant who was just 9-years-old.
All finalists’ dishes include a product from the sponsor of their category.
The winners are announced tonight at a black-tie awards ceremony in The Shelbourne Hotel, hosted by TV3’s Martin King.
The Easy Food Home-Cook Hero Awards will be broadcast on TV3 on November 14th. Who knows, you may see some of us on the big screen!
